Save money- Build it yourself
If you are handy in the woodworking shop, you can easily build a vacuum box nearly identical to the PPCo boxes that sell for over $200. With only a drill press , a table saw, and some simple hand tools, satisfactory results can be acheived. We offer a 'short kit' of parts that help you to finish the job quickly and affordably.
The plans are eleven full pages packed with info and have over 30 pictures detailing every aspect of building the box. A bill of materials is included. The box can be made out of nearly any wood: particle board, MDF, plywood.... what ever you have available. A table saw works best for accurate cuts, but a hand held circular saw can be used with a proper cutting straight edge.

The Bergytone short kit of parts contains all of the items you need to complete the box. Items like the flex hose normally has a minimum buy length, the short kit gives you just what you need. A special elbow block/check valve is included so you can still use operate the piano with the foot pumps. The short kit includes: 2 foot* section of hose, elbow block, motor gasket, hardware, foil tape and the detailed plans.
The kit does NOT include the vacuum motor, but sources for it are given in the bill of materials. None of the wood is included, but this can be found at any lumber/home store.

Affordable
With the Bergytone kit and plans, you can build a vacuum box yourself for around $125. The short kit cost is $39, and can be ordered by contacting us at PianoPro service. Order part number SK-001, add $4.95 for shipping.
NOTE: This vacuum box MUST be used with a motor speed controller. Use of the motor connected directly to 100V AC will create vacuum levels that could be destructive to the player action, valves, and the delicate leather pouches within. Ordinary light dimmers are not specifically designed for the highly inductive load of the universal type of motors used in these pumps and are not recommended for use. They have no upper limit to the speed and could easily accidently be turned up to vacuum levels that could damage your player.
Our BT-003 dual speed controller is the perfect speed controller for player piano use. Normally, this speed controller is $69.95, but if ordered with the short kit, you can save $10. The total price for the short kit plus the speed controller is $99. Order the speed controller together with the short kit as part number BT-004. Add $6.50 for shipping.
